Google’s CEO Challenges AI Giants at the I/O 2025

Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO, has been making headlines frequently over the past few days. From tech to AI, he’s upfront and committed to bringing new technologies onboard to spark breakthrough changes in the evolving AI industry.

At the Annual Developer Conference on May 20, 2025, he unveiled a bold new direction, putting artificial intelligence at the center of Google’s future — unveiling a suite of AI-driven products and features aimed at leading the AI domain.

Building Google’s AI Ecosystem:

The conference focused on major advancements that will transform Google’s future. The keynote emphasized the revolutionary potential of AI, where Pichai stated,

We are in a new phase of the AI platform shift, where decades of research are becoming reality for people all over the world.”

This statement set the tone for the event, highlighting Google’s promise to integrate AI across its entire product ecosystem.

Google introduced Gemini 2.5, its most advanced version till date. With Deep Think mode allowing Gemini to evaluate multiple possibilities before answering — making its responses more thoughtful and human-like.

It also supports an extended 1–2 million token context window, allowing deeper, more coherent conversations and understanding. The version also powers various Google services, including Search and Creative tools, and is available to over 400 million monthly users.

Here Are The BIG, BOLD UPDATES from Google I/O 2025:

1. Google Is Turning Online Shopping Interactive

With Google’s new Try On AI, you can try clothes online and see how they look on you. All you need to do is upload your full profile picture and select the clothes you would want to try. Now you are the model!

2. Now Google’s AI Won’t Just Respond — It Will Engage, Learn And Work As Your Digital Assistant

The new “AI Mode” in Google Search transforms traditional search into a conversational interface. Users can now have multi-turn conversations. The AI understands context and offers detailed feedback, smart suggestions, and accurate answers. Think of it like a WhatsApp thread, ask a question, follow up, and it remembers everything you said earlier.

This version handles complex queries, breaking them into subtopics and delivering detailed, thoughtful responses.

And it doesn’t just respond — it acts. Want to buy tickets or book a table? Gemini can handle it from start to finish.

Need a house? It can find listings, filter options based on your preferences, and even schedule home tours — hands-free.

3. Merging AI With Augmented Reality

The company has introducedXR Glasses, wearable devices powered by Android XR and Gemini. These offer real-time translation, contextual overlays, and memory recall of past interactions. The feature aims to enrich everyday experiences through seamless augmented reality.

With These Glasses You Can See The Map In Front Of Your Eyes!

For example, if you passed a particular shop two days ago, it can help you locate it again. Also, the built-in AI translates text or audio live through the glasses, now you can travel anywhere without the stress of language barriers.

The glasses can also help you navigate. Think, Google Maps on your glasses screen. The directions, arrows and prompts appear right in your field of vision, guiding you to your destination without ever looking down at your phone.

Apart from these transformative AI versions and features, Google also rolled out two creative tools: Flow and Lyria. These are designed to assist and diversify workflows in film and music production.

  • Flow: Flow is an AI-powered tool that can help filmmakers during pre-production — from writing scene descriptions to building characters and planning audio cues. It merges with Veo 3(Google’s Latest Model For AI Video Generation) and Imagen 4 (Google’s Latest Model For AI Image Generation) for video and image generations.
